This guide walks you through the process of setting up a promotional offer that rewards eligible customers with free shipping on their orders in the free gifts for WooCommerce plugin.
Step 1: Select the Free Shipping Method
Create a new rule and select “Free Shipping” from the list of Methods. This tells the plugin that the benefit is a shipping cost waiver, not a physical product.
Step 2: Define the Shipping Method(s)
In the Select Shipping section, open the combo box and specify which shipping methods this offer applies to (e.g., Standard Ground Shipping, Express Shipping). You can choose to apply it to all methods or only to specific ones.
You can also give the offer a clear name and description for internal tracking in the Rule Name and Description fields.

Step 3: Set the Conditions (Who Qualifies)
This is where you define the rules for eligibility. In the “Conditions” section, press the Add Condition button and set the criteria a customer must meet.
Common conditions include:
· Customer Groups: (e.g., VIP Members, New Customers).
· Purchase History: (e.g., Number of orders, Total amount spent).
· Cart Value: (e.g., Order value exceeds $100).
Step 4: Save and Activate the Offer
Click on the Save Settings to save the offer and activate it. The system will now automatically apply free shipping to orders that meet your specified conditions.
Example: Reward Your Most Active Customers
Scenario: Offer free shipping to customers who have placed more than 2 orders this month.
Here is how you would configure the offer based on the steps above:
Select Method: Choose Free Shipping from the Method list.
Define Shipping Method: Apply the offer to “All methods“.
Set Conditions: In the conditions section, set the fields to:
Customer > Customer Value > Order Count > Current Month > at least > 2

By applying the rule, any customer who has placed more than two orders in the current month will automatically have the standard shipping cost waived at checkout for their next eligible order.
